Hackers are Getting Smarter with Malware

As years pass and technology progresses, hackers are becoming more sophisticated with their software viruses. Using what’s called a backdoor, hackers can gain access to systems without the proper authentication.

Linux, which has open-sourced operating system, recently dealt with intelligent malware. Named “Kobalos” by WeLiveSecurity, this malware, “grants remote access to the file system, provides the ability to spawn terminal sessions, and allows proxying connections to other Kobalos-infected servers.”

Kobalos has not only been targeting Linux, but also Solaris and possibly Microsoft – among other operating systems. Internet service providers, personal servers and government agencies have been a few of the industries that have been affected by this trojan.

Unfortunately, no one seems to know how to find or stop Kobalos. But knowing and understanding this virus may lower the risk of companies becoming subject to the attacks.
